"Guardian of the Gulch"

Seeing our brothers isn't always easy.  We're far enough apart geographically that seeing each other doesn't happen very often.  Fortunately for us, Aaron's younger brother had some work to do here in Montana and we were able to spend some time with him.  He greeted us at Aaron's folks house by pelting our Yukon with snowballs and the boys were stuck to his side from that moment on.  He went sledding with them, had snowball fights, wrestled, listened to loud music, ate Captain Crunch Berries and helped with the occasional video game.  They were definitely impressed!  Aaron was able to get in some good brother time and we all enjoyed seeing him for a few days.  On Saturday afternoon they were busy doing something guy-sie, so the boys and I made a crucial trip into town.  The Parrot Confectionery is a must when visiting Helena!  It is an old candy shop complete with glass cases, soda fountain and juke box.  We love it there and the sweet candy aroma always brings back childhood memories.  The boys and I love walking through the back of the store and seeing the old copper kettles and dipping room.  It's located on the Walking Mall and after lunch and a few sweets we headed down the mall and up through an old WWII Memorial. Standing high on a hill, overlooking  the gulch is this old Fire Tower.  We walked up and read all about it.  It was a good history lesson (I am a homeschool mom after all)…not only about Helena but also about Aaron & I. We hiked up to the tower on our first date over 14 years ago.  Little did I know then that the next time I would visit would be with our two children!
